The 2014 Sochi Olympics have come to a close. It was a fun two weeks, full of amazing pictures of events and athletes. Russia came away with 33 medals, closely followed by Norway, Canada, and the United States. See some of our Favorite Photos from the Sochi Olympics, and don’t miss the Olympic funny faces either!

Turmoil in Ukraine continues. As the whereabouts of ousted President Yanukovych are unknown, Parliament rushes to appoint lawmaker Oleksandr Turchinov as a new speaker until elections can be held in May. Yanukovych, however, insists he is still charge, as stated from a televised broadcast last weekend.

A least three protesters were killed in clashes with police on 18 February, Ukrainian opposition activists say. Violence erupted in the Ukrainian capital after anti-government protesters broke through a police cordon in front of parliament. Protester marched toward the parliament to demand constitutional reforms that would curb the powers of President Viktor Yanukovych. Ukraine has been mired in political crisis since November after the government backed away from a trade agreement with the European Union and signed a 15-billion-dollar loan deal with Russia instead.
